Buff OrpingtonsI first started raising Buff Orpingtons around 15 years ago, drawn by their impressive size and stunning golden colour. Then, in 2011 I was fortunate to purchase some of best breeding stock available and never looked back. While I don't consider them one of the easier breeds to raise or show, they've earned a permanent place on my farm.
Cumber Lands Buff Orpingtons have gained a solid reputation for being well-bred, high quality exhibition birds. If your goal is simply a lovely flock to enjoy around the yard, these golden beauties are hard to beat. While the hens take longer to reach point of lay than some other breeds, they are respectable layers. The extra cockerels take around 28 weeks to reach optimal butcher size, but make amazing roasting chickens.
